The Artist

Is a self taught artist based in North Yorkshire on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. He first became interested in Celtic Art about twenty years ago when he became interested in the history and mythology of the Celts. This, coupled with a fascination for abstract art, lead to an interest and then passion for Celtic artwork, studying the layout and teaching himself how to draw it out. With finding various books on the subject, particularly George Bains ‘Methods of Construction’ and the works of Aiden Meehan, the learning task became much simpler. The artist has now been drawing and painting Celtic art for close to ten years and has recently had work displayed in a local gallery.

the Artwork

All the original pieces are in acrylic on canvas patterned acrylic paper, and take anywhere between a day and a week or more to complete depending on the complexity and size of the design.

All the knotwork and zoomorphics are original designs based on designs found readily available on the subject, trying not to straight copy any design so as to keep the work the artists own as much as possible. The knotwork is also sometimes used to make patterns themselves to make the works more visually interesting.
